    Oil pressure

    Good evening;

Anyone know the oil pressure must have a 4.6 engine model 2001?
I saw a previous post of a problem with the oil pressure sensor, mine takes about 3 minutes to shut down in the mornings, and when the car is parked for more than 8 hours sometimes 1 minute.
3 weeks ago when i change the oil used Valvoline 10W40 no chain noise or some other noise is heard, just want to be sure I have the right pressure in the engine.

I guess there must be a cold pressure and at the engine hot other pressure.
This weekend I want to buy a pressure gauge to check it, but I have no reference values must have the lubrication system.

Then i will change the pressure sensor.
    Thanks in advance.

should be using 5w20 in a 2001+ engine. 5w30 at the most. 10W40 will not flow well at all. The passages are too small. That could be the problem.

Second the motion no 10W-X oil in a modern engine. It is too thick and should result in gradual increased engine wear. The first number on oil is its cold/startup viscosity. 5W flows much easier to lube your motor on startup and warm up.

Thanks, this weekend i will change the oil, and use a 5W20 grade. the Bosch is a good oil filter?, the ford dealer are far from my home and work, and i don't made it to buy a motorcraft.

Funny during a meeting at Ford when I worked there Fords oil head engineer told us never to use the 0 or 5 - oils. It was used to pass EPA rulings and to use 10w -30 or 40.

Interesting. I've always heard that you needed the 5w20/30 for the cams as they would need the oil to get there faster since there's no actual bearings.

I wouldn't run 5w-20 in anything other than something still under warranty and needing it for warranty purposes. 5-w30 would be my oil for a 4.6. You can blame the EPA for the low viscosity junk. Gets .001 mpg better with the thin stuff. This is all personal opinion.

The second number is the hot oil weight. I can see the point of having a higher second number like XW-40 but I don't know at what point too high a number might be beneficial.

Some euro cars, like my Mercedes 5.0 engine specify 0W-40.

Yesterday i check the oil pressure and With the engine Hot Was at 25 psi, today in the morning With the engine cold was at 80 - 85 psi.

I Will buy the pressure sensor tomorrow.

For what engines and what were the justifications? Since it gets cold where I'm at I run 5W or 0W whenever possible, the lower that number the better the oil is to retaining it's "hot" viscosity number when cold. Manuals for everything we have spec 10W-30 but list 5W-30 as an option so that's what I run (Valvoline SynPower). Fury gets 10W-50 Valvoline VR stuff with zddp. 10W-40 comes out like molasses when its 20 degrees or less, I'll never run that in anything that sees sub freezing temps again.

yeah... not going to have that issue in most of Mexico. Maybe up in the mountains, but not in Monterrey.

I've always ran 5W-30 in my car. I've never had any problems with oil pressure on startup/while driving.

Do you all have real oil pressure gauges some ford one are perity much on off gages some have built in delays so you dont see the pressure drop to 0 when you slam on the brakes. There are a lot of things I dont like about the mod motors oiling system based on design info I learned about gerotor oil pumps when I WAS ASKED TO ADD THEM TO OTHER ENGINES.
