    Oil smell

Greetings -- 2006 Grand Marquis 25K on the clock. This one has me stumped. I keep on smelling motor oil when the windows are down. Had several people look for leaks. No leaks or spills. smells more like oil out of the bottle, instead of burnt oil. Anybody had this ? Thanks

Did oil get spilled in the interior or in the trunk? I might have got half way cleaned up and the smell still lingers

PCV valve come out of the passenger side valve cover? Oil fill cap loose?

Already checked filler cap. I checked the pcv on the driverside valve cover, not loose. Thinking of changing PCV
          Thanks

Did oil get spilled down behind the alternator the last time the oil was changed? It would pool in the engine valley and pretty much not go anywhere and just evaporate or catch dirt.

I change the oil myself. Very care of spills. I have checked this area. Thanks for the idea. Keep them coming

Did the other people have it up on a hoist when they looked? Is it only when the car is running? Do you smell anything when walking around the car?

Freshly tarred roads or new asphalt laid down in the area?

Several people have crawled under, not on hoist. Happens only when car is running. Always a passing smell, doesn't stay around. Have not walked around the car.I have to wait when I'm not in traffic. Don't remember it happening not in traffic. And it's not from other cars either - Thanks
