I've only had my car for a little over a week. Today I stopped to check the tranny fluid with the engine running and the engine sounds like a typewriter or a sewing machine with the hood up. I researched this problem on the internet and it may be the timing chain tensioner guides, but that problem is usually found in 01-03 Panthers, and mine is an 07. The car runs fine, so I'm not sure what it could be.
I listened to the engine run while in the car with the radio and HVAC fan off and I can't hear the typewriter sound, but there is a low pitched whine that I thought might be the power steering pump or water pump maybe. The steering is fine, though and it isn't leaking anything. It may just be a regular noise these cars make.
Any ideas?
