The shaft itself probably caused the lobe to crack due to how rusty it is.

I wouldn't waste any money on that motor. Used 2v 4.6's are so cheap and easy to find.

oooh, wow thats a lot more milkshake than can be explained by condensation. Mixing like that you'd probably have to have a blown oil filter adapter gasket, or if its got an oil cooler, a failure there would do it. A blown head gasket is also a possible. The way the intake is designed and the typical failure method, I don't think a problem there would cause any water to get into the crankcase. With that much water in it, its very likely you've got some more serious internal damage going on. Water makes a pretty crappy lubricant.

yeah.... forget what I said earlier. Swap in a PI long block and have a nice day.

Good call guys. When I inspected the cam followers the other day I heard and leak hissing sound coming from the lower timing cover area. Since the intake is fixed I suspect that on or more of the block core pugs have pin hole leaks and dumping right into the oil pan. It will be much easier to do a full engine swap as suggested instead of rolling the dice.

Change all gaskets & seals on the "new" one before it goes in. Probably water pump while you are at it.

I hope to be on the prowl this weekend for a motor from the local pick-n-pull. I will have to look over it very closely!

Probably will take more effort than you want to do but if my 4.6 needed replacing I'd be on the lookout for a 4v 4.6 over a 2v. But I can't ever leave anything stock.
