    Having 94 CV problems, ping, ping

    I've got a perfectly good running 94CV that detonates, I don't mean it only detonate under hard acceleration. I mean it detonates under almost any acceleration.

    I thought there was some sensor that controls that?

    Can anyone give me an idea of where to start looking for the problem?

    Using regular gas and it has 131,000 miles

    Thanks!

        plugs are probably crap.

        which reminds me... I should put that on my "check it" list for the 93.

          Change the fuel filter too, I bet it's original. The one in our 94 was.

            Yeah, the check engine light does come on.

            Changed fuel filter, looked like the original.

            Haven't changed plugs, probably original, the wires are!

              When does it come on? If it's while driving at highway speeds, I'm gonna lean towards an EGR problem. I'd check to see what codes it has if I were you. Do you know how to get codes mang?

                94 = EEC IV

                I'd change plugs and wires and go from there. Honestly, If he thinks that they're original, they need to be replaced. It can't hurt anything.

                  The wires are definitely original, the plugs have been changed but not by me, so I have no idea how many miles they have on them. And I haven't pulled them to see if they are good or not, I don't even know what brand they are. The car runs pretty smooth, but that doesn't mean the plugs don't need replacing.
                  I'm guessing that with 131 thousand on them the wires should be replaced.

                  The check engine light does seem to come on more at highway speeds, but will also come on as slow as 40MPH too. I do know how to get the codes, but I don't have the equipment.

                  The EGR in that car is a pain to get to isn't it? It's back behind the motor, sorta?
