    2006 GM GS with 44,000 for 10,000

I found a 2006 GM with about 44,000 miles. It looks pretty clean. Do these cars last long? I plan on keeping it for 8 years or so... Is there anything specific I should check out on the car if I decide to see it?

These cars do last a long time, especially if serviced on a regular basis.

You will be able to drive it into oblivion if you keep it serviced....I was in a 03 Grand Marquis taxi in Miami last month that had 350K miles on it and it was running just fine.

I wrecked my first one twice and it kept going. These are the last of the tanks.

Should I be concerned that it was a leased car?

I guess it could have been fleet, rental, or lease... With around 45,000 miles, I'm guessing it was a lease.

Fleet cars, like police cars, are usually purged out between 70-100k. Then the taxi companies pick them up and run them into the ground. And by run them into the ground, i mean upwards of 300k+.
So usually you won't find a taxi with 45k on it.

And it does sound like a lease. And a great deal.

Alloy subframe components and rack & pinion steering? Check

I had an old timer tell me these newer ones 'handle like an '80s Mustang'.

It sounds like a good deal to me. Love the black.

Anyone ever try grafting the rack and pinion onto a box?

I would try to get the service records on it to see how often the oil was changed...I would also take the car to Ford or a trusted mechanic to have it checked out...If they say its good to go I would buy it.

BTW are all our cars were former rentals and bought with 10 to 25K miles on them..We had them all checked out first by a trusted mechanic.

                      Thanks guys,

Would Marauder wheels work with these cars? That's probably the only "mod" i'd do.

Yup. And they are very pricey. Ask me how I know.
