Looking at a '97 LX next week. 111k miles. I have previous experience with a '92 4.6 2V and a '94 4.6 4V. Anything out of the ordinary to look for? Not just in regards to the motor but also anything particular to the Aeros? This would be a new DD, so it would need to be reliable.

the 97 that i rebuilt for the townships new undercover car had stainless steel fuel lines, so no worries there.........need a bubble flare tool ($25) to do the brake lines on a 97

With my 97 I had the aluminum cross over intake so that was not an issue. But next to the #4 plug hole is the heater core hose, This nipple is brassed seated in the plastic intake. Watch for sticky or coolant there.
As most have said brake lines, frame rot and the usual fender and dog leg rot. Check the rockers too.
Having had the 2002 for 10 months now, I still miss my 97. As it referrers to this thread I dont miss it for an emotional attachment I miss is because I learned to trust it and it never left me stranded.
The TC drain plug was a plus.
Besides with the lower end torque of the NPI engine,Barking 1-2 after the Jmod was so easy

IMHO the 97 was the best year. They are lighter than the current year. They have aluminum hoods and trunks.
