LTB Mark VI trunk lid.

I know this is a long shot but I’m looking for a Mark VI trunk lid that is as rust free is possible. My uncle wasn’t paying attention today and backed his truck right into mine and the right side of the trunk lid is totally destroyed. Of course he blamed me and drove off. If I can find a trunk lid I have a guy who can paint it and install my old trim.

I realize if I do find one the shipping is going to be insane but at this point it’s either that or sell the car and see what I can get, which probably won’t be much. But at this point I don’t even want to look at it.

Thanks Dave. I’ll take a look at it when I get a chance, although I don’t think this is anything I’ll be doing in a hurry. A friend of mine has a brother who is an excellent body man. I’m going to see what kind of deal we can work out. He looked at it and he says it’s fixable.

Yes, he’s the black sheep of the family. He doesn’t come around often but when he does something unfortunately gets destroyed. He’s the type of guy who could write me a check for whatever the damage is and not even notice it. But he wouldn’t do that for his own kids let alone anyone else.

My buddy and I are hopefully going to be pulling the trunk lid in the next couple of weeks and taking it to his brothers shop. I told him I don’t care how long it takes or what it costs “within reason” I just want it done right. Fortunately the surface rust on that trunk lid is the only rust on the car so that will be addressed as well.

I found a rust free trunk lid that just needs painted for $150. It's at a junkyard in Holland NY about 250 miles one way, turns out it's about 3" too wide to fit in back of the Grand Marquis so I'm looking for another vehicle to take to pick it up.

Yeah it should sure beat having to have the dent removed from mine.

If all else fails you can drive you car there and swap it there? Last resort option as I know I would not want to do that. Id like to have both at hand so I can mix and match what parts and pieces I want from both.

Yeah I'm trying to avoid that. I don't know if I trust the Mark VI to do a 500 mile round trip and I want both lids considering my trim and lettering is perfect. The other lid has a complete set but condition is hard to tell in the photos.
