My wife just hit my car with the leveling hitch...

She has this bad habit of parking in the middle of the driveway and I have stopped arguing about it, well she backed up this morning without even looking; 97' Suburban with a massive leveling hitch right into the front driver side corner.

I am sick to my stomach right now, it's a good thing she went to work too; I don't think I am in the right frame of mind to talk about it without yelling, temper control is not my strong suit.

Looks like I need a Front PI and the light trim for sure, the lens is okay. The fender will probably straighten but it's going to need repainted. The car has full coverage with a $500 deductible, this is delicate territory now though I am sure. This just happened so I won't be able to talk to the insurance till Monday, unless they are observing presidents days.

I think someone else mentioned the color is Crystal Blue metallic, any chance anyone has a done car the same color?

It looks like Crystal Blue Metallic like my Ice Car. Double check the paint code on the driver door jam sticker to be sure. It looks like for Crystal Blue Metallic, 1989 paint code would be 3Q while my 1991 is paint code KA. Both are paint code M6327A at http://www.automotivetouchup.com.

        Ouch!

Oh, I'd have argued all right lol. Stevie Ray Vaughn sang a song about my Town Car... Anyway, my car has been the recipient of body damage similar to that but I got away lucky as I didn't need a fender, just the fender extension and lense. For whatever reason I had a hard time finding a body shop that would touch it and when I finally found a shop they at first told me they would have no problem finding parts as they had many sources, only to call me later and tell me to find parts. So I got lucky there was a sweet '85 LTC at a yard with everything I needed. There should be pics in my car's thread should you care to check them out. Good luck with the repair and sorry to see the damage! They're only original once...

Check your insurance policy. I know some exclude damage caused by a family member. If the clause is there verify that it does indeed apply to collision coverage not general liability.

A friend of mine was over helping me work on my car and my mom backed into his vehicle. Mom and dad's home owner's insurance ended up covering it (happened in their driveway) rather than auto. I'm not quite sure about the details and this is Michigan so it might not work like that where you are.

It was mom's 1995 Tahoe vs. a late model Toyota Sienna, not a scratch on the Tahoe, but the Sienna needed a new rear bumper/bumper cover and some work on the rear door.

Sorry to hear about and see the damage to the Mercury. Very wise to hold your temper ! Hopefully insurance can cover some of it.

Sounds like time to teach her to do body work.

Insurance is a wash, what a joke! Can't wait to drop this to liability when the loan is paid. Going to just find parts and do the work myself.
