    Need Insta-clear windshield

I'm probably tilting at windmills here, but the windshield on my '90 CP just blew up. (Has anybody had this happen when they turned the windshield heater on?) I can get glass w/o the heater element just about everywhere, but not the one I need. Anybody got one? I would prefer new, of course, but I'll entertain any suggestions. I really don't want to give up the windshield heater, it is a very useful feature, and losing it would also leave a dash switch with no function. HELP!

I don't think they are in production any longer. If you do find one be prepared to shell out over $1000! Years ago mine broke in my 89 MGM and it was that much back then when they still were available. I said to hell with that and replaced it with a standard windshield.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother either, except I'm in Florida where there is a no-deductible windshield replacement statute. If I could find one, my insurance will cover it, so...

All that being said, I will likely end up with stock, unheated glass.

last one found on here was listed at $1500 and went for $1900 IIRC (ebay thing). That was a year or more ago at least.

I don't think there's any old stock left anywhere any more. That said... call around to glass suppliers and see if anyone knows if you can get a heated windshield replacement. It may need to be custom made.

This company has a workable product if they will custom make.

I know of one person on here who has one. I actually think it was the last one available. I don't think he's selling it though.

that may be the one I'm remembering... but I probably have the details wrong.

Yeah, my experience has been one of failure and frustration in this search; who would have thought an American car would contain so much Unobtainium..?

OK, thanks anyway; just thought I'd try asking the gang. If nobody comes up with anything I'll get a standard one tomorrow...

Unless you get one pulled out of a junkyard or something, there are none. I had a rock chip mine on my third CV. If you're worried about the button, you could possibly install a power antenna in its place. I'm pretty sure you could get the windshield or power antenna when ordering and defrost came standard, but you couldn't have all 3.

Yep, that's what I got: windshield heater, rear defrost, antenna... That's kinda what's bothering me; the car is 100% loaded - every option: leather, power everything, posi, 3.55 gears, auto leveling, dual exhaust, used to have Insta-clear.. I hate to lose it.

                            $125 Daytona Beach, FL County Auto Recycling Services Inc. USA-FL(Daytona-Beach) Request_Quote 386-767-0720 / 800-254-7911 Request_Insurance_Quote

Maybe pay the 125 outta pocket, & have insurance cover the install? Or convince ins. co. the 125 is cheaper than doing a regular replace. There are some in canada, you can get them out of junkyards, good luck!
