Anyone got a spare dipstick tube?

I just snapped mine off inside the block... fuck. I already got the broken end out but now I've got my thumb up my ass. I'd rather not buy one of those fancy-schmancy chrome plated jobs because 1. I can't afford it and 2. it'd look weird in my shitty engine compartment.

Does anyone have one they could send to me post-haste? Let me know what you want for one.

You could call a local wrecking yard to see if they can take one off a junk motor in their core pile. Should be cheap.

Well, yeah, but I'm trying to get one to my door since getting to a junkyard (closest is 45 minutes away) during business hours with no car may prove difficult.

Damn, had I seen this post 2 days ago I wouldn't have completely decimating that rusty one on the 91 vic.

If no one can help me I'll probably end up plugging the hole with a rubber stopper once I get the car back together and start hitting junkyards...

found a used stick and tube on the shelf, pretty sure it's panther

I have one for a panther, and one for a Mustang.

I think Gabe wants the Panther one (was NOS, in my white car), but the Mustang one looks pretty much the same...

Honestly either will work. It's just the bend of the tube. I'm running a Thunderbird dipstick tube in mine. We used an HO tube for the 351w. We just bent it a little so you could actually reach the thing.

I think I have one I don't need ... pretty sure any tube-in-block tube should work OK. If in doubt, make a mark on the stick after adding exactly 5 quarts following your next oil change and then running the engine to get it circulated.

The chrome FRPP ones aren't that bad actually, they bend way forward and you don't really notice them.

if you use a Mustang tube, the Panther stick won't work. Too short. Using both Mustang parts together works fine though.

Though, now that I think of it, I can just picture Bernini shoving the stick repeatedly in and out of the wrong tube and pouring in an extra couple gallons of oil trying to get the right reading.
