    Nick posted some interesting POR15 product in my RR thread. He recommended I use it on my mirrors to keep them looking fresh. I would guess that product could also be used to protect and possibly seal polished aluminum.


    And I have a really weathered hood trim from the 79 LTD-S hood I purchased. That would be a good candidate to do some experiments to with different strippers, and different polishes...and of course seeing how long the shine lasts.

      bare unprotected aluminum doesn't stay nice looking for long in the outdoors. Figure within a year it will be chalky. Let it go too long and it will begin to eat pits in the material which will not polish out. The best way to do it if you're gonna is to remove the existing finish, polish, then re-seal it with something. Clear lacquer is usually a good option.

        I'm going to use a coating called "Sharkhide" on the aluminum machined cover of my mustang air cleaner lid. I've heard good things about it.
