i put the ones i got today in and they seem to be holding and they don't feel lose i first screwed a bolt onto the coarse end then the lock washer then screw it into the manifold until tight i don't think it will come lose with a lock washer on it. Will see if weight of the cats support the bolts and the bolts dont come out when tightening the nuts. if they stay then there the right size if they dont then it's the wrong size bolt.

Are the old nuts at all usable? If they are, then you can determine the size and thread pitch from those. Also, that has no guarantee that the threads on the manifold are the same. Its not uncommon for the manifold threads to be different than the stud end threads.
What the hell did you do to the studs anyway? I've never had to replace those unless one got broken somehow. The trick to making those come apart is to use a torch, heat the shit out of them until the nuts turn red, and spin them off. They come right apart, no fuss no damage.

You might have said that to start with. As Thain says (and he's handled a lot more of them than I have), those don't usually fail. No wonder you got a parts goon talking about new manifolds.
Especially with you being right there in Pennsylvania where the Scotty's favorite wrecking yards are, this is the perfect excuse to make the slight upgrade to Town Car tubular exhaust logs. So unless you have a good reason to not to, I'd go ahead out to the yards and see if they have some.

Techless tip: guessing at random is a great way to waste money on unsuitable hardware.
Also, quite possibly a bolt will work just fine in that location. Yank a manifold and take it to Ace or True Value to match up the thread size. Get the bolts longer than you think you need; if it bottoms out, you can always shorten it.
If in doubt, consider tapping the hole out to the next larger size. You can get cheap tap sets at Harbor Freight, as I did, or IIRC you can rent a set for free at AutoZone.
Actually, if you go the repair route, you may want to consider enlarging the stud holes anyway. The reason being, if the studs really have stripped out at the top, it's very possible the threads in the manifold itself are damaged as well. This means that we could go to the trouble of removing a set of stock studs and send them to you, only for you to discover that they don't fit anymore. If you take the five minutes to tap the holes larger, you'll know you have nice new threads to run your fastener into.
Alternatively, most of us use tubular manifolds of one sort or another, and the more packrattish of us still have perfectly good iron logs laying around and can provide you a set for the cost of shipping. Only problem with that, the cost of shipping may come to more than the price of the Lincoln tubular units Scott recommended, so look into those first. If that totally doesn't work out, PM me or any number of other people and we can send you a good set of used iron manifolds if you pay for shipping.
The Lincoln Logs have a place for 2 oxygen sensors, you'd need to plug the one up if you're going to use them. They are better than the stock '83 manifolds though. I got my replacement studs on the help rack of the auto parts store...
no need to plug it up, just leave one of the 1990 oxy sensors in the hole.
If you're going to drill and tap the manifolds, it would be easier to do it off the car. Its real easy to snap taps and drill bits in cast iron if you get things going crooked, and getting either of those items back out is a huge pain in the ass. You can't drill out a drill bit or a tap. You also need to run the tap in there straight and true otherwise you get "drunken" threads from the tap wobbling around.
As for the hardware linked, the second set has metric threads. No workie. Unknown about the first set.
