Different Style Flaring tool for Eastwood ?

    Hi,

Saw this on sale for $35.

It has the virtue of being different then the typical bar type. It is limited to the one size, albeit the most common for brakes. Anybody use this before? Heavy duty? easy? More fool proof?

Always interested in new tools even I am not going to buy them as my typical unit is still functioning. But for somebody who does not have a tool or does brake lines all the time maybe this is better? Or maybe not?

I own it. Have not used it yet. Eric the car guy did a review on it (youtube) and I was impressed and so was he.

On-car flare tool, lets show you how it works while chucked in a bench vise

Functionally it looks about the same as the bar type. You have a means of gripping the tube, a cone shaped bit to create the flare, and a screw to create the pressure. Only real difference is that the tube gripping part is shaped like a block with a handle vs a bar. As long as it grips securely it should do fine. Thats one of the big problems with cheap ones, if the tube slips the flare doesn't work. This one looks less of a pain in the ass if nothing else, no 2 piece clamp to deal with, and no slidey bit to hook over it where the screw pulls against the bar.
