the 88-89 is the same dash and everything, so the older speedo CLUSTER would work. you cant take it apart and swap out the fuel gauge, etc...

It's almost exactly like a car I found in an Elgin, IL wrecking yard last weekend. A 1981, same color, same manual window door panels, same cloth seats, same "shark gills" on the fenders. It wasn't a police package though and it has a white half vinyl roof. I ended up taking the windshield for my 1986 police Crown Vic; it is in perfect condition.

I love how prices on junk cars are always overinflated on eBay. The speedo is really the only unique and desirable part on the whole car. No one cares about rusty quarters and 140hp 351s.

Would make an interesting ride, whether parted to another Marquis to make a 'clone' or restored, but this guy is on something asking 1500 dollars for that. Rare or not, with the problems he describes and the condition the car is in (apparent on the pics) I'd pay MAYBE 200 dollars, and only then if I were feeling generous.
