Front: The bumper guard spacing is tighter on the GM, and farther apart on the 79/early 87 Vic's to match the grille. Late 87 they used the GM bumper on the Ford. It fits but looks a little off IMO.Originally posted by mcb82gt View Post

Yeah. My 87 Vic has the narrow mgm bumper from new! It is off as it does not match the grill spacing but that is the way she came. I’d say if one is in need of a bumper any type would pass as most would never notice.
I also have no idea about rears.~David~

This is the difference between Ford and Mercury bumperette/guard placement:
As noted, 87 Ford gets the Mercury one for some reason - the only reason that makes sense to me would be excess stock being projected during the previous year and knowing it was all going to change for M/Y 88.
All of those bumpers are excellent finds, and while priced out of the range I'd pay, aren't actually too crazy when you consider shipping is included and there aren't any cheap repops being made to compete with them.Comment

Well, I took the dive.
I haven't come by anything for a rear even in semi decent shape. All those are bids and not a buy it now price.

Good luck. I am no competition. Luckily I have grabbed a nos smooth rear bumper for the parts hoard a number of years back.

Congrats on the bumper. I don't think I've ever found a perfect rear 79/87 bumper in the yards. Most are rusty, even here in moderate climate central Virginia. Bumper rechroming is closing in a being a four digit cash deal last I heard.1990 Country Squire - under restoration
