    Police Car Parts

I have been pulling parts for my cars for a bit and another car came up. I was wondering, besides the swaybars, cluster, some extra gauges, 351 engine, what were some other items that came only on police cars? This one has an axle swa but had buckets. How rare are the buckets? Click image for larger version

Those seats are special if one is looking for them. I hear uncomfortable, but was something I was looking for some time ago...No longer. I would say the seat are pretty uncommon, especially nowadays.

What was going on above the hood? Someone cut it out for more cold air?

He has this 351 built with this massive intake. So what you are seeing is the intake collector and the carb about 6" out the hood.

....covered with masking tape and paper by the looks of it. Cool.

The frame is thicker on fleet/police cars. I think the HD is stamped on the rear arch on the driver side.

The oil cooler is a unique item to police cars. The wheels are unique as well. Less desirable would be the control arms with weird bushings, the steel piston brake calipers, metal disc brake dust shields, likely the transmission has the valve body for the "2" position instead of "1". Possible aluminum driveshaft and 1330 series joints.

I'd pull the dual exhaust hangers at this point if they are in good shape (particularly the left side), although they are not unique to the police car.

The front sway bar is not necessarily unique to the police car either. My 82 had that 1 1/8" solid bar as a civilian car. Still most were not equipped that way. The rear sway bar is absolutely unique so you better grab that!

If the car is decent, it could be good for restoration. Red interior in a police car is rare. Those police package cars are getting very hard to find. I see a part that I would be interested in if the car will be parted out. Pm me if you can get it. Bucket seats are getting very rare especially in nice original condition. It appears to have the cloth inserts. There are so many police only parts. The oil cooler, hoses and the filter + housing with gasket (which many people forget to put) is another police only and highly desired by many people. The hoses may be greasy but worth pulling as a unit. Power steering and transmission coolers are worth pulling. I like the A arms. Even if they are worn are worth getting along with the front and rear the springs. I don't see that the car had a spot light. If it did, the bracket where the spot light mounted is worth pulling. The radiator and mounts that hold it are larger. Alternator should be the high output. Even the brake backing plates are different. I notice that there is a hood ornament which normally would be deleted. I think I see cruise control buttons on the non leather wrapped steering wheel. Where are you located ?
Seriously, if I can have you get some parts from it, PM me.

Yeah, black with red interior is dead sexy.
