1986 Ford LTD Crown Victoria, 110K miles

I've got too many projects. The Crown Vic doesn't HAVE to go, but it's a good daily driver today with a lot of stuff to do later, when I will be trying to do other things...this is more of a feeler thread right now (but if you make an offer I can't refuse, I won't refuse it!). This is a really hard thread to hit "submit" on.

It's a brown on brown 4-door, solid, a dent in the passenger door (I have a replacement door, although this door could probably be massaged out, I think door replacement is easier), 5.0/AOD with 110k miles (almost: probably be about 110K by the time someone buys it...?)

I daily drive it; from that standpoint there's nothing wrong with the car. Very little rust, it's a beauty underneath. I get 19-20mpg usually; I have gotten under 14 (stop and go in Boston) and a personal best of 24 (long highway run at 65; I usually go 80 and get 20, lol).

It has been upgraded with Speedway front springs and cargo coil rear; it sits low in the rear and I have a few other springs to try in it that will go with the car (project #1).

It has a 2.73 rear with drum brakes; I have a disc brake rear and an axle rebuild kit with 3.55 gears to rebuild and put in (including new rotors and pads) (project #2).

I have all the weatherstripping to fix all the doors/door windows, they are currently all shot (project #3).

The luxuries all work: A/C is ice cold, power windows work except the RR door switch is physically broken; power locks work but RF door switch physically broken; I have the switches (...#4).

The radio is an Alpine CD player with 4 good speakers. I can throw in the trip computer (mounted but not wired in ...#5) if you want it and I have the analog Ford radio/cassette that came with it.

The ashtray was removed to add the trip computer; the ashtray, some glovebox hardware and a bunch of interior trim screws are in a coffee can but not installed (...#6).

An idiot shop did some brake work trying to figure out why the parking brake kept releasing in "Drive" which resulted in them removing the cruise control dump valve and leaving it on my front seat (...#7, and DUH, IT'S ONE OF THE FEW CROWN VICS WHERE THE PARKING BRAKE RELEASE WORKS!!!! WHY DON'T ANY SHOPS UNDERSTAND THIS????). So cruise control worked and will work again when that's reinstalled and adjusted.

Other work done: Bilstein shocks front and rear. 1986 Police brakes installed; have parts for big brake conversion (...#8). Have poly suspension bushings in a box (...#9). Has summer rubber on Turbine wheels and winter rubber on Explorer Snowflakes (winter tires are okay, summer are barely legal; plan on tires soon....#10; I was going to buy tires next spring).

Within the last 18 months: New water pump, complete A/C system except evaporator which was tested, vacuum lines, HO upper/TB, Power by Ford valve covers, and general maintenance with Motorcraft ignition parts. Fuel and air filter. Lincoln log headers. Interval wipers work with shiny new chrome stalk on wiper, shifter, and turn signal arms. Lots of other odds and ends. Lots of parts in boxes to go with it including service manuals, owner's manuals, etc. Seats are velvety and comfy. Took it on a road trip with the GF and her kids for a week and no complaints about the car; we took it camping the next weekend and they were excited to go in it. Drove it all over, drive it all over, would drive it anywhere I want to go. My friend has borrowed it twice to take his family into the New Hampshire mountains and lakes, towing a Boston Whaler, a week each time.

Long term cosmetic TLC I had intended to do: the RR door (door panel is in rough shape), the RF door repair, weatherstripping, a good paint job, replace the vinyl top. Then it would be a 9/10 car; I'd currently rate it about 7.5/10, mostly for the cosmetics.

So I don't have to sell it, but I won't have time for a couple years to do those things and I have a lot of cars, including a Mercury that is my real project car, and my gf's modern Volvo that needs a timing belt soon (non-related "ugh project").

If there's interest at $4500 I'll post pictures when I get home this weekend. If not, I'll keep it. I want to make sure it goes to a forum member (or future forum member) so I'm posting it here only; I definitely want to keep it in the GMN family and out of the demolition derbies...
