1988 Ford LTD Country Squire LX
~280K Miles
-Former Gray, Current faded blue. Red Velour Interior
-Body has some rust - floors mostly OK, frame however solid.
-Factory Tow Package car - but has a 3.27 Limited Slip rear end (original 3.55 not there).
-Tripminder, 85MPH speedometer, AutoLamp, Power Locks, Windows, Mirrors, Cruise, Tilt, Split BenchPower seats both sides, Power Antenna, Smoker/Vent windows. 8 passenger with seats in rear, and factory roof rack. Also has Automatic Climate Control>
-Custom welded Class 3 hitch with electric brakes, large transmission cooler
-Recent work includes...
-New Front Brakes & re-packed front wheel bearings, rotors turned
-New rear brakes, wheel cylinders, and drums turned
-New emergency brake cables - does work.
-Dual exhaust with correct dual exhaust exiting at the rear bumper
-Window motor gear kits completed on all 5 as well a new motor in right rear.
-All power lock actuators work
-upper control arm bushings and ball joints done.
-New radiator and heater core (nice hot heat)
-New evaporator core, lines, orfice tube, compressor - ice cold ac
-2 new tires in rear, very good fronts. Alignment correct and recent
-Brass TV Grommet - transmission shifts great - good lockup
Engine does not leak oil - new oil pan and gasket, valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, timing cover gaskets AND Head gaskets! Engine barely uses 1 quart of oil in 3,000 miles.
BAD
-Windshield is cracked
-Dash pad is cracked
-Cd player (aftermarket) does not work, however radio and aux input works
-Mast for power antenna bad - motor is good
-Tailgate window is slow to operate (properly lubed up regulator).
-Rust - rockers, body
-Will not pass emissions - equipment removed (air pump, lines, etc).
Overall...
Car is fantastic - it drives very well. It handles well. It stops well. The car has been a great "work horse". It's gone all over eastern half of the united states - with recent trip up and back to Maryland from SC returning with a brake lathe, tools and other equipment - safe to say - it was well loaded down!!! It did the trip with the AC on, doing 19MPG!!! It's not a great looking vehicle, but is a solid, reliable, vehicle that could be used immediately - it truly could go to California and back no problem.
