They corrode in the brace because of the mix of metals. It is best/easiest using something like a right angle screw driver where you can put a lot of pressure on the screw driver while you turn to get them out.

#3 phillips and a ratchet that can attach to the screwdriver (like some socket sets have). LEAN on that SOB and crank. I'll loosen up or break the head off... either way, the mirror will come free. Then just disconnect the wiring and go. The wiring is accessible behind the door panel.
