    hello other box people

    Hi. CATSHOW here.

used to be an exclusively vw person, but moved up to MI from TX a few years back and have gotten into these stupid boxy cars. They are nice because you can set tools on them and the tools won't slide off. But they suck because you can't pull engines with floor jacks.

I had to scrap my shitty town car a couple weeks ago. But I have another shitty town car that is almost just like it. And its constantly breaking so that is why I am here.

Also have a very nice CV wagon that I drove up from TX 2 yrs ago with 72k original miles on it. never seen salt.

All box exposure has been of the 89 vintage so far. Intrigued by these T5 swaps. Also need help understanding all these fancy water cooled EFI things.

Got a ton of other cars too, but its all VW and Fiat garbage that no one here is probably interested it so I won't go into it more.

Hahaha I enjoy the way you type. Reminds me of Resident Evil zombie talk, "Itchy Itchy Scott came. Ugly face so killed him. Tasty."

Where did you scrap this town car? WHat was the color of interior? Facotry JBL stuff in it? I am not interested in anything other than Red, White & Blue so thankie on omitting VW stuff lol.

Welcome by the way. THis site will give you all the box exposure you can handle, much like a strip club! Arm yourself with TFI modules, distributors, thermostats, radiators, water pumps, vacuum lines & fuel pumps and you'll be all set.

From one of the other box people: Welcome!

I'm also in MI, been here my whole life though. I'm roughly 20 miles north of Detroit. I'd prefer be further north, closer to where I grew up, but I'd rather not drive 3 hours a day round-trip for work. I did that for a month back in 2010, when I started with the company I work for now, then I moved closer to work.

Welcome! I'm a recent box convert myself. I've wanted one for a while but the stars never aligned. Still have my '98 interceptor but I pick up my new toy in a couple of days. It's a '90 LTD, so excited. Yes, at one time in my illustrious vehicle-owning career I decided that I should have a vw, and for whatever stupid reason I liked type III's. Needless to say, my '73 squareback cured me of any further need for any such vehicle. I like big, clumsy, comfortable sedans now, and will likely keep buying older and larger ones. Next stop, Lincoln Barge!

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I talk like a zombie because I eat brains.

Here is the current motorpool list:
                            1952 vw beetle rust bucket
1959 vw panel bus rust bucket
1960 vw single cab (down in tx still with my folks)
                            1960 fiat 600 garbage
1962 vw beetle (also in tx)
                            1973 bmw r60/5
                            1989 lincoln TC
                            1989 crown vic wagon

                            3 of them even run.

lots of projects so its probably a good thing that hammatramma made me downsize the fleet a few weeks ago. had to cut up a 60 bug and scrap my other 89 tc.

I won't lie, I abused the shit out of that other TC, it was pretty beat when I got it. towards the end it was really bad though. lets see if this picture thing works.

still feel bad about not saving the motor though. if the city hadn't cracked down i was gonna build some weird ass rat rod out of the 60 bug and TC. probably best for whats left of my sanity that that project won't be pursued.

had a great weekend this last weekend though, did a full tune up on the other TC and its running great again. think i must have had some arcing between plug wires and non-spark plug metal things cuz all i did was check compression and swap out plugs and wires and its not running like shit anymore. i like easy fixes like that.

does anyone around detroit have a 5 speed swap i could check out? anytime i hear about or see it I'm all like "I want that."
