    1987 mercury colony park

My wife has been dying for a wagon and so we finally got one. It has 118k on it with an engine swap 3k ago over all it's really nice condition and moves like a mustang w/ a slightly wider turning radius haha j/k.
The only noticeable damage is to the drivers side rear panel which is why the previous owner sold it to us for $700 with a new set of studded tires and rims.
Good deal? - I think so and I'm a Chevy guy; which is why I am posting here on grandmarq. There are just some things I don't get with this car.
We recently took the car in for a muffler job and this morning my wife missed work because it wouldn't start. Once the sun came up I found a loose wire on the Tbi and it started right up.
Turns out the muffler shop didn't put the straps back on the catalytic converter which in turn pulled on the coupling with the egr ( that snapped at the flange).... Problem fixed for now - not Eco friendly but it runs again.
My first car was an 87 cougar so I am a little bit familiar with this rig. But I have a ton of electrical questions about the power windows/ doors I hope you folks can give me a hand with.
I am a P.E. with 13+ years of plumbing and hvac experience and have a bunch of shade tree knowledge in box Chevys and newer Hondas. (Passport, crv, accord.)

My wife is a professional driver and pretty handy with a wrench too so she and I will be tackling this job together and hopefully make it into one rockin daily driver.

Actually I'd say the turn radius is about the same, if not tighter. I have a Mark VII, which is basically a fancy Mustang and I could turn a circle in my Towncar inside the radius of what the Mark will do. Same rack and such on the Mark. Its a real pain in the neck to park compared to the Townie, despite being about 2 feet shorter and several inches narrower.

700 for anything in solid drivable shape is a good deal.

The tubes into the cats are actually air injection pipes. They're not real useful. The air pump stops doing anything after a few minutes. Its used to warm the converters up more quickly. If you drive for 10-15 minutes it stops pumping air in there.

Windows and stuff are fairly easy. They have a couple common problems that are mostly easy to fix.

Welcome and good luck with the ride... I'm jealous! All the boxes pass craigslist and the classifieds and head straight to the junkyard here lately. I am wanting a '86-'87 wagon. Mine is turning into iron-rich soil.

Agree on the turning radius. I have a '94 Mustang and it can barely park in a tight parking lot.

Thanks for the info people. My wife is still at work right now but I will take some pics in the morning of the broken flange. I have been looking at egr delete kits or even just a way to cap off the broken line since it still starts and drives like a champ.
Right now the power windows won't work and the front passenger door is stuck (locked position?) so that's our biggest priority at the moment.

          Welcome!

Great choice of car on your wife's part. Someday when I can afford another car I would love to get another wagon, my 88 Country Squire was an awesome car.
