    Frame work

Hi I own a 99 Mercury Grand Marquis GS, I was wondering if anyone has experience in repairing the frame rails on these cars? The passenger side frame rail is rotting some in the back and worse in the front. Any help would be appreciated. I would rather repair it then scrap this car. It runs great interior is pretty nice for the age and everything works. I love the car so I would love to save it before it is too late. Thank you.

You might want to post your location and it is not clear to me if you are looking for technical advice or someone to do the work.

Pics? Are we talking surface rust, or holes?

Separating the body from the frame will give you full access to do the repairs properly.

I'm located in NY. I still haven't taken pics yet. I'm looking for some technical advice, unless i find someone who can do it for a reasonable price. It is rot, not surface rust, the passenger side frame rail has rotted badly in the front. In the rear on the same rail there is at least one hole, but not as bad as the front. Like I said I like the car and would love to be able to fix it instead of getting rid of it.

Depending on how extensive the rot is that work could easily cost more than the car is worth.
Unless you're able to do it yourself or have a friend that can.
It may come down to driving it as long as you can, as long as the car is safe.
Maybe you can pick up a nice, rust free southern car to replace it.
Or it may be time to consider letting it go in one way or another.
There are several ways to handle this, depending on your skill level and finances.
But only you can make that choice.

A common problem. The ac condensate rots the frame near the firewall on the passenger side.

Well money is tight right now so it would have to be really cheap or i'll have to wait. I can do some work myself but not the actual welding, i don't have a welder, nor have i welded before. I have friends that know how. I've been looking online near me for a donor car. Everything works on this car, the interior is pretty nice. If i could find a replacement that has a solid frame but needs a drivetrain that would work. Either way I would rather repair or get one to transfer the parts to instead of scrapping this car. Thanks for the info though.
