    Hello From MI!

Hello! My name is Justice, I'm 16 years old and my current car is a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. I had bought the car about a month ago as my second car. My first car was a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP that my grandparents gave to me when I was 15. It was an extremely fast car and I kept it for about a year before I sold it for $1,800.

I bought my Grand Marquis for a $1,000 with 238,000 miles on the odometer. The odometer is stuck however, but I'm guessing it has somewhere around 240,000 miles on it based on the service records I found. According to the last owner, the first owner had rebuilt the engine, so the car runs great. So far, I love the Grand Marquis and I plan to keep it for a long time.

    Welcome!

One of the things I learned relatively recently is that they have a reputation for lasting a very long time if properly maintained etc. You've certainly come to the right place. Lots to learn on this site. Enjoy!

2000 Grand Marquis LS HPP, a hand-me-down in 2008 with 128,000 km; 175,000 km as of July 2014
mods: air filter box 'tuba', headlight relay harness, J-mod (around 186,350 km), 70mm throttle body, KYB Gas-A-Just shocks, aluminum driveshaft, ARA3 PCM

        Welcome!
I'm in Shelby Township, MI, North of Detroit.

Your odometer gears need to be replaced, it's a known issue on the 90+ odometers (at least up to 94), the gears basically turn to wax and crumble.

There are quite a few threads on it but here just are a couple:

              Welcome aboard.

Those hazy headlights can be polished up a bit with that headlight restorer stuff. Don't expect them to be crystal clear, but they should clean up fairly well with a few treatments. Sorry, foggy headlights are a pet peeve etc.....
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

I've actually already cleaned them up a bit just by using some bug spray and a wash rag. As a student, I'm on a tight budget, so I'm always looking for the cheapest way to fix things.

Understandable. I haven't forgotten what it's like to want to mod/fix your car, but then every dime the parental units give you goes in the gas tank.

The parental units don't give me any money, lol. They pay for the insurance and that's only if I do more work around the house.

They sound like smart parents. You will thank them later for helping you build a good work ethic.

That's what everyone tells me and I believe it. I've seen what spoiled brats can become and I don't want to end up like that.

                          Welcome from Warren!

Even when I lived with my p's and paid for tuition I was never cheap with my cars. I take care of whatever takes care of me. When my friends would bitch about their car being a POS I would always take pride in knowing that while I may not be able to join them at the concert or whatever my car wasn't going to leave me stranded anywhere and was dependable.

When the headlights on my Ranger or Grand AM would get foggy I'd use Meguier's scratch remover polish on them with an old rag, worked well. Also works great at restoring lenses to their original luster- worked wonders with my Firebird.
