        Welcome!

Good looking car you have there.
When I was 16 I had a 1987 CV, that was 14 years ago, and since then the only vehicles that I have had were box panthers until this year.

          Welcome!

It's not hard to imagine a car like that getting all muscled up. Good luck with it!

When I was 16 I had to walk (or borrow mom's 93 escort wagon).

Nice car! I would love to have a 2 door. When I was 16 I had to drive my mom's 1975 4 door Granada. No coolness factor there.

This. It's got muscle car proportions and a reliable V8 engine (with plenty of potential to go faster!). It demands to be tricked out.

To the OP: You got yourself a hell of a nice car. Looks like a towing package LS coupe- note the trailer hitch thingy under the rear bumper. Looks to be very well maintained too- can't see any rust in the usual places. Only place I can't see is the passenger side bulkhead. These cars sometimes rust out there- it's right below the AC compressor, and condensation will cause a water trap. If you don't plan on using the A/C, you can just gut the compressors, the lines, etc., and not worry about this becoming an issue. This is definitely a car to keep in good shape, whether that means parking her during the snowy months or doing the used motor oil undercoating (a couple of our members know more about this if you're interested- SexCPotatoes comes to mind.) treatment, the choice is yours.

Love the color scheme, and how the pinstripes are kinked at the B-pillar too. Them sawblade wheels are 80's-tastic too- perfect for your '87 coupe.

                          Welcome, welcome!

As far as "undercoating" goes, unless you're going to do a full frame off/por-15 and/or paint job for the entire frame & undercarriage, you should go with a yearly oil-bath. Some places use Used motor oil, some places a motor oil/diesel fuel or whatever mix. They basically spray the hell out of the entire underside of the car, seriously, it drips for DAYS on your driveway and makes rainbow colour swirls on the cement/pavement when it rains.

DO NOT go for the sticky-ooey-gooey shit tar stuff, as it tends to power-wash off (when driving through standing water) along the frame rail directly under the driverside A-pillar and rots your brakeline toot-sweet!
