1998 Mercury Grand Marquis GS Wiper Arm Issues

While I am new to the forum list and find it a bit confusing as per posts like this ( software and the correct place ), I thought I would put it here as a start point. Briefly, the passenger side wiper arm is "off" by a sprocket or so it seems and is not equal in height to the drivers side. How in hell can I get this *off* w/o damaging anything, especially with my right hand that is recovering from a radial nerve crush from 2010. I used this information below to guide me in removal, however I could not get this MF off as usual tonight. Any FSM guides to this or experienced life resolutions to removal and re-positioning this wiper arm? I do not believe it's supposed to ride that high up as it does and then not come all the way down when operational during the rain storm/s here, as per last nights first trial run.

Let me know if this is as much of a pill as it appears or if there are any inside secrets to this nonsense and noise. I just want it to work and appear perfectly.

When you say that it's riding too high, are you talking about when the wipers are turned off, and the arms are in their "parked" position? If you have the wiper switch turned on delay, the wipers don't retreat to the "park" position between swipes of the windshield. They make a pass, then wait in their down position until the delay timer tells them to go again. If you reposition the wiper arm to be hidden from view while the wipers are on, you're going to end up doing damage to the arm, motor, or both, when you turn the wipers off and they try to return to their "parked" position.

Some wiper arms are bolted to the transmission. The earlier ones are just clipped to it. You can easily tell the difference between the two. 1 will have a clip sticking out of the base of the wiper arm that when you lift it up you can pry it out, then let the wiper arm back down, and wiggle it, it will come free. The other one will have a bolt (maybe covered by a plastic cover) that you loosen and wiggle the wiper arm free and then reposition and tighten the arm.
