    Old user, new Panther!

Hey all, after 3 years or so, I'm back to these forums with a new Panther platform car. I just picked up a 2004 Crown Victoria P71 last week, and I'm looking to really get into it and learn as much as I can. My last car in this area was a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis GS. Now that I've got one a bit newer, and quite a bit nicer, I'm looking to do some tasteful upgrades, and don't really know where to start. So, about me, I'm 23 and live in Minne-snow-ta, and have a fair education on automobiles. My last car was a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GLX, fun car to drive, but nothing that can be a daily driver in the winter here. So I dumped it and bought this new beauty last Friday for $2900.

Currently at 129,500 miles and climbing, as I can't get sick of driving this machine. Dual spotlights, 16" steel cop wheels, some new Uniroyal Touring tires, and a bare interior.
I'm hopefully going to put a new stereo head unit in today, and work on upgrading the speakers in the next few weeks, possibly switch out some interior and exterior lights to LED or SMD bulbs so I'll never have to change them again. Then, come spring time, I'll be jumping into some performance modifications. No heated garage here, too cold for much motor work besides any little repairs I'll need.
So, just stopping in to re-introduce myself. Hello.

Thanks. I plan on keeping the steel wheels for winter and getting some aluminum ones for summer use. Probably won't go much bigger than 17" to keep tire costs down.

Try and score a set of LX Sport "fanblade" wheels, it would look great.

        Good luck with it.

nice car. if I was ever to get an ex-cop car, that color would be one of my choices.

Well, to be technical, it was undercover or a detective/federal car. I haven't done enough digging to find out. But that's factory Ford paint on it, Arizona Beige Metallic. There is a bit of rust here and there, fenders, rear wheel wells, and bottoms of the doors. That's all going to be fixed like new as soon as it's warmer.

Can someone post a picture of these fanblades? I think I know what they look like, but I'm not sure.
I might go aftermarket to save some cash, OEM wheels are always spendy.

Those are nice. If they are available on the LX Sport model I should probably be able to find a second hand set for cheap from a junk yard.

I'm kinda fuming right now. Bought a bypass pipe to mount my MAF to and it doesn't fit. Time to return it and bitch.

                              Here's my old Marquis.

And a few more pictures with my buddy and his 2000 P71.

So, any ideas for initial modifications? I'm on a bit of a budget for a few months but I can't leave it stock.
