Hello, everyone, my name is Jay, and I have a '92 Grand Marquis LS, also I'm new to the Grand Marq scene. I want to do a lot fo things to this old tank, but I just recently threw a rod through the bottom end... So I'm stuck looking for an engine.

bastard blocks are not easy to find... in good shape... but a 5.0 HO will bolt in. You'll need to bastardize some wiring harnesses, but that's the only real hard part of the swap.

Search for a 91 Town Car on Car-part.com. There are quite a few of them. 700 ish seems to be the going price. The problem may be finding one close enough to pickup.2020 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum (Ice White / Blonde)

You can get the HighOutput computer for $50 or so, mounts down by the brake pedal under the dash, grab a 5.0 HO motor with wiring harness from the junkyard (not very expensive, probably more expensive is a bastard block 4.6). There are writeups on here, all you have to do is flip the intake from R-to-L & swap the accessories over. Couple other small things which wouldn't be expensive to change the linkages & THERE ARE NO CHANGES TO THE WIRING! See here:

All the heads/injectors, all the bs you can ignore, the Mustang HO motors come with all that shit inside already. The Oil Cap is another thing, as how the intake sits you need a snap-on-screw-out one. The swap gets you an easy conversion to MASS AIR & it's easy to throw a cold air intake in while you're finishing up.

Here is the thread.

If the OP's primary objective is to get the car on the road a used bastard 4.6 is the way to go. It's not like there weren't thousands of 91 LTCs and early 92 CV/GMs.Last edited by tjc78; 12-13-2012, 03:40 PM.2020 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum (Ice White / Blonde)

I was so wrapped up in all of the info haha. I appreciate the input from everyone though. Like tjc78 said though, I'm really only trying to get it back on the road right now, I've found a nice bastard block at a local shop that I've been going to lately and getting a nice build up of credit there so the engine is only going to be $250-ish for me. I'm hoping to put it in over the weekend and have it running by Sunday night, assuming everything goes right, haha.
Again, thanks for the info guys.

********!!!! If you can swing it, CHANGE THE VALVE SEALS WHILE THE ENGINE IS OUT OF THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !*****************************
The early 4.6's (91-95) had bad valve seals. Depending on the mileage, (or more likely, age) they start going bad. Then you have a blue cloud of doom that follows you around town.
If you can change them while the motor is out of the car, it'll save you wear and tear in the future. And it's hella easier when it's not in the car. Change the valve springs as well.
Just throwing that out there.
