    disappointed

I am so disappointed that there will no longer be Mercury Grand Marquis!
When I am ready to buy a new vehicle - I don't know WHAT I will buy !
I am not crazy about the body style of the Grand Marquis or the Crown Vic - BUT - the performance is
unequaled! The ride is smooth, quiet and 'cushy'!
The interior is nice, spacious, soft, plush and comfortable.
The vehicle is very dependable...in fact, beyond belief!!
The trunk is HUGE in comparative terms to other vehicles and comparing to most sedans.
I love the digital dash that mine has.
There are so many loyal Grand Marquis owners that are convinced this is the best vehicle being produced - that I just can't understand WHY Ford
    will discontinue it!
What WILL I buy next ? a General Motors vehicle?
There is nothing in the Ford line to compare to the Grand Marquis - except the Town Car !

My current Grand Marquis is the 4th one we have had.
Every year I say I will get a new vehicle - but, I have had no trouble with the one I have even though it is a 1998 model with 241,000.00 miles on it.
All original equipment except for window motor and windshield wiper motor!...
so I change my mind annually and decide to keep what I have until it
    starts giving me trouble.
    No Toyota is this good.

A truck? They still have BOF construction. Forget about the Honda Ridgeline though...

New to you or brand new?

I'm sure there will be plenty of unsold Grand Marquis in circulation in the next couple of years..

Welcome. Keep you 98 going for ever. One thing I dont understand is people getting rid of vehicles when they break.

No worry...As already stated here the CVPI will be coming off the line until sometime in 2011...Probably the end of 2011 as most departments [like down by me] are still ordering them...You should be able to find a nice 1 driver take home cruiser over the next few years...Alot of places sell them....Some are Chicago Motors,Big Bear Cruisers and Cheyka Motors....Sometimes the CHP has auctions with some nice take home cruisers for those who live in the area...A 1 driver take home Highway Patrol car is the way to go...Not a city, county or pool car that everyone uses...Always try to get the maintenance records.

Beside the Panther platform cars I see nothing worth buying.

That's what I've been thinking too, but at my current rate I don't have to worry about it till 2035

they put that new 5.0L in the f150... that may enter into my future wish list 4x4 dream truck. Right now it's the undead '95 F150 300 straight 6 that's on my wish list (damn near impossible to kill those trucks... well... the engine at any rate).

damn new 5.0L is an overhead cam engine not the pushrod setup we are used to... best to try to find a 5.0L setup pushrod car... maybe if we are lucky, some company will reissue bodies like they have for the 1967 Mustang and old styled original Broncos... i saw this info in a magazine from dynacorn ... here is part of what i saw... http://www.autoweek.com/article/2010...NEWS/100609847

If I were in the market for something new, I'd wait a year or two and start scouring eBay for low-mileage or overstock 2011 Caprices.

Other than that, get a Charger and deal with the maintenance worries, or just sit tight and hope Ford USA comes up with something better than a AWD Tortoise for their flagship vehicle.
