    host of shotgun questions

    hello again group,

I have been junk yard shopping and bartering this week and this has brought me here with several GM and mkVII questions. This is basically my summer agenda, so a bump in the right direction could help as much as detailed answers

I bought nice turbines and tires for the GM last summer, but i want to do prep work for the big brake swap while reconditioning the front end. I like the tire/wheel set up for now, but will be ready for 16s next tire replacement. Can I use the newer UCA with the old spindles? I've already done the poly bushings in the rear and want to do the front this summer. Any part number help there from Energy Suspension? Am i right in assuming the 15 turbines wont work with the big brakes?

I have found a good running Mountaineer with a 5.0, checking on Monday to make sure it's a GT40P version engine. What should i do with it? The 5.0 in the GM has 85k non abused miles and uses no oil, runs pretty well and shows no sign of stopping. I have the history of this car since it had 10k on it. pop the intake, heads and cam, or just install the mountaineer engine whole? Will the Mountie computer work on the retrofit?

I just want to be clear on the Supercoupe trans swap. I have a great '89 AOD from an old Tbird S/C. I would like to use this trans/TC in the GM and the only issue i can see with the 87 swap is the cable operated speedo and the electronic speedo in the Tbird trans. Is this a simple bolt on/in component fix?

Again with the S/C, I'd like to have the traclock unit put in the GM, is this possible? I think they are both 8.8 pumpkins. I also want to do a disc upgrade on the GM, so should I have the gearset installed and look for a brake set up or just look for a traclok/disc rear unit? I'm thinking the matched trans/diff gears from the Tbird would be best, but I would appreciate input.

Now for the leftovers...My son has an 84 Mark VII CFI, and he is NOT into power. he would like the swirly heads from the 87 with the EFI unit installed on his car. What issues/parts are we looking at there? We have the kit for the air bag/steel spring conversion. It looks straightforward enough, but if there are any snags or mighazwells there I would like to know. I considered doing the bushings in this too but i can't find polys for a mark VII.

Lastly, does anyone want any parts off the S/C? Are any of the parts retrievable for the mark? Is it worth extracting the tevis brakes for the mark?

I feel like rosanne rosannadana, so many questions, I know alot of this stuff is here already, and I've read it, but i'm looking for the latest, most surgical info, We both like doing little stuff perfect and big stuff SLOW and perfect. Being prepared seems like the longest part of the task, but it usually ends up with less cursing and cooler tempers. thanks for any info in advance.
again this site is a gold mine of experience that can be tapped instead of the typical you can't/don't want to do THAT answers.
