Need help with pricing

i have a 1985 lincoln towncar with a fuel pump problem and it has 162,000 on it with some paint bubbling. i was wondering how much i chould get for it if i sold it and was wondering if anyone whould be interested in buying it.

I was thinking probably at the most would be $500. At least that's how it is down here. You could probably put another fuel pump in it and get at least $1000. If you want to do that I have a used fuel pump that'll I'll sell ya. It worked great before pulled. I just pulled it out about 2 weeks ago.

One of my pet peeves is people selling cars that don't work. To me they are worthless PERIOD. Why one may ask? Well because it doesn't freaking work!

On a side note other things that piss me off is when sellers say that the heater core needs to be replaced and that the ac just needs to be charged. My freaking blood boils every time I read that. People are too lazy. Get off your ass fix the damn thing then actually try and sell it.

to be ohnest i dont realy want to sell the car i just dont have money to get a new pump. I absolutly love my lincoln just trying to get it fixed is becoming problematic with our stupid economy falling so i cant get a job anywhere up here but if i chould get a pump relativly cheap then i will be keeping it and fixing it.

I'm assuming that this fuel pump issue means it's not running, so around here $500 would be about right.

I know this is a bit off topic, But I would like to know for sure if an 86 Model Fuel Pump will work in his 85?

Should. The pumps are close enough to work. The 86 pump may have a little more capacity, but that won't hurt anything.

The thing with selling a car that "just needs this" is theres almost always something else wrong. Even if there isn't, people have gotten too suspicious of the fantastically good deal on a car that needs one little thing to go for it anymore. Too often, that one little thing ends up being 10 big things. You'd be ahead of the game by fixing it, and selling it as a running vehicle.

I almost think $500 is little high, BUT they always say start high on the price. I would say if there is no need to sell it, DONT as you will probably regret it later. Just keep it untill you can afford to fix it, I have been there mang. It took me almost a year to find my shitty part time retail job. Its gets discouraging, but it will work out.
