hello im new and please point me in the right direction

    THE IMPORTANT STUFF

well i start with a little about myself( but mostly about my car thats why we are all here right ) im an average married 21 year guy i have my hondas (Del Sol and Prelude and owned several civics too ) I have a 78 Z-28 Was my dads he died a while back but i also have this other car some call a boat, grocery getter, gas guzzler, tank ect ive been asked why do like that big box so much ect well since i was about 10 years old ive wanted this car my gpa had this big black 83 grand marquis he bought new back in 84 and when i turned 18 he sold it to me with 75000 miles on without a scratch every single service record down to the tire pressure long story short i have my dream car and really there isnt a car under 20k that i would trade for it

so here is where i need some help i let another family member borrow the car for 3 months and in 3 months they did more damage then had been done in 24 years vacuum lines plug cut off /missing cats are gone ect so i started to get ready for a efi swap

    THE important STUFF

i have a 83 grand marquis 302 with cfi that i need to convert either to efi or carb my current longblock is in decent shape/and my aod is good too if that matters
i have already purchased a 302 efi engine with complete wiring harness/computer from a 89 should i continue with this route and swap in whole engine or just swap the intake "on up' im kinda of lost what to do next

or should i just swap in a carb setup for simplicity reasons and what are the necessary parts for either swap maybe post some links to COMPLETE WRITE ups i have read online for hours but it always seems like it is mustang guys doing the swap i have no problem spending up to 1000 on parts to do the job right thank you Terry the new guy

      thank you for a reply

well i have some skill ive done maybe 5 engine swaps but always a quick in in out same engine and im in no hurry so the work doesn't bother me and when it comes to wiring i went to college for electronics engineering i have found writeups on Mustang cfi to carb will it be the same? i mean same wiring
i guess what i need to know is which way should i go carb or efi? i live n ohio so different air temps this car will only have a set of duels on it no other performance mods

Depends how you're going to use the car. If you're going to rely on it every day, efi would be the way to go.

I don't know if 83's had a spot through the firewall to mount the computer. I didn't have a place to mount one or I woulda done EFI.

This is my opinion, I like the efi better than carb. It's nice to get in and drive, exspecially on a cold day. And I find it somewhat more reliable than the carb. That's just my opinion. Ohhh, and welcome to the club man.
