i think roush would b a good way to go if he picked up a good set of '04 mustang GT heads and computer....because im fairly sure that the only difference between the mustang 4.6 and the vic 4.6 is the heads and computer im not 100 but i think thats the difference..
Actually, the 01+ Vics have the same heads as the 99-04 Mustang GT. There would be absolutely no benefit for him to swap to the 'stang heads.
As for the computer...that would be a no-go. Though there are exceptions, you would be safe to consider the PCM to be model and year specific.
As for a supercharger, there was only one kit that was a bolt-on, and that was the AED supercharger. They are out o' business, tho. With some effort, you can make the Mustang kits work, but the intake goes over to the passenger side. This would require the battery to be relocated, most likely to the trunk. It can and has been done...just do your research, and be prepared.

This is something I've wondered about for awhile. What are the differences between a Panther 4.6 ECM and a Mustang 4.6 ECM, and what prevents a person from swapping them?

From what I can tell, the problem is not anything *physical* (such as the dimensions or connector). It would be with the factory-loaded tune, and any functions that are enabled/disabled or altered. Basic stuff, like the MAF, transmission programming (or lack thereof), etc.
However, I have seen people swap PCMs amongst different models, but only with EEC-IV cars. I cannot say why; I have not spent much time researching the matter.
That said, I will readily admit that this particular field is not my forte. The PCM may function, but I am guessing that it will not be just a simple bolt on; you will likely have to swap in some Mustang components (such as the MAF) to make everything work properly. Even then, the programming will be for a Mustang, not a heavy Vic.
My suggestion would be to save up for a tune; it will be specific to your wants and needs, and would be most likely to improve your ride.
