But with that engine setup I would highly recommend a wide ratio AOD. The wide ratio uses the planetary from a 4R70W transmission which is rated for 700ft/lbs (4R70W) 1st and 2nd are slightly higher gears as well, better launching. If the tranny already has a shift kit and is doing good, then drive it till it needs it.
Thanks for the info. It doesn't have a shift kit, I believe it was just rebuilt. I'll drive it til it breaks.

Can I just take the posi diff out of a Mustang? My friend has a wrecked 1994 5.0 that he decided to wrap around a tree.

I'm from Wakefield, Rhode Island. Wonder if there are a lot of New England people around here, that would make a sweet get-together.

          From one newbie to another.

Sounds like you know what you're doing. That also sounds like a sweet project as well. You gotta show some pics and some numbers when you're done.

A shift kit installation is actually a cheap insurance for the tranny, you can get a good one for less than $50 and you can install it yourself in just a couple of hours, no tranny removal necessary either.

The posi unit off that Mustang should bolt right up in your car, take the gears with it as well - chances are they are numerically higher than what you already have. You may want to rebuild it tho, rebuild kit can be had again for around $50.

I'd snag lots of stuff off the stang. The limited slip is a bolt in from the stang, if it has decent gears, grab them also.

I would swap the rear end gears, but I'm fairly satisfied with the stock ones right now. Okay, first gear is a little sluggish, but I am enjoying the 19mpg I've been getting.

I'll see what else I can grab from the wrecked Mustang. I'll keep you guys posted

I'm pretty sure the FD from his mustang was 3.55. Would those be ok to use?

snag the 5.0 ho from the 94 mustang mang.....it has the same lower intake, you just need a earlier model ho upper intake and throttle body and if you use the 94 mustang ecm, you also need to install a maf harness and the maf meter form the mustang
boxes and fwd mopars are the best cars........i've had a bunch of fwd mopars, in my opinion they were decent till they went with this cab forward shit......i had a spirit es that i pd 200 bucks for that went 279,000 miles, and a 2.5 caravan that ended up going to 360,000........both could have been saved, but the ex gf i gave the spirit too and the friend i sold the caravan to wanted something newer......engine transplants are no biggie.......would have saved em if i had place to keep them back then............now when i have all sorts of space, cant find good free cars.....go figure lol

                            Here's my gorgeous ride.

Quick vid, I had to cut it short.

                            Started some bodywork, too.

                            this is going to suck!

Great interior, only 76k on the car.
