Cant find an answer in the archives. I'm currently running 235/60R15's, but the tires are incredibly cheap, and the back wheels look kinda kinda small for my liking. Dont fill out the wheel well enough. New 17" rims and tires are in the distant future, after all the other shite I gotta take care of. I cant remember for sure, but I think stock turbines are 7" wide, havnt had to balance one in a long time. Just want to know what the limit of these rims are in terms of tire size.

I'd say not much more than your current 235's, most manufactures don't recommend 245's or 255's on 7 inch rims. You could probably get away with 245/60/15's but they would look funny (bulged or bowed)1987 LTD CROWN VICTORIA, 5.0 EFI, MAGNAFLOW DUAL EXH, RED LANDAU

This chart from BF goodrich should help
245's and 255's can be mounted on 7 inch wide rims....but you really need 8's
Alothough, according to this chart 255/70/15's would work, but that's a 28 inch tall tire
also try this calculator

Thats a great chart, maybe someone could sticky that into the tech section in its own thread for reference. I've seen the tires on the back of pete's car and like how they fill out the wheel wells. Thanks for the info as always.sigpicVic Videos Here http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showthre...676#post243676

My brother has mopar cop rally's on his 88. They are 7" wide, and he has 255's on them. Doesn't look, handle, drive, etc goofy.
However, I think turbines are 6.5" wide. You need to measure from bead to bead. I have a set laying around and they measure 6.5" from bead to bead, just like the factory steelies I have for my car.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

sorry to jack your thread, but I was just wondering something along these lines
my chrome wheels are 15x7s.
I was thinking 255/60/15s all around would look nice...and give me good grip/handling.
would these fit ok and not rub against the wheel wells when I go around turns?
or is 245/60/15 the widest I can go?
*I was planning to get Firestone Firehawks*sigpic

Oh, okay - looked from the pictures like they were 60 series.
Have you thought about a 65 series? Availability can be a problem, but a 235/65/15 would be very similar in overall height and would be a very good width for the wheels. Actually, availability is more of a problem than i realized - Tire Rack and Just Tires are showing only an Eagle GA for that size, and Discount Tire is showing nothing at all.
Speaking of availability , I just noticed another problem - the Tire Rack isn't showing the Firehawk Indy 500 in a 245/60/15. Nor the Yokohama Avid S/T, or that one road-oriented Kuhmo Venture! Maybe the Avids are just out of stock, but I dont' remember ever seeing the Indy 500 in a 245/60.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

yea, they got Firehawks in 235/60/15s and 255/60/15s but not in 245/60/15s.
I want to go as wide as I can without rubbing the fender wells...and I would love to have 255s.
but if they would be entirely too wide for the fender wells, then I'll go with 235s.sigpic

Mr. Land Yacht, my brother has 255 60 15's on his 15 x7 mopar rallys. they fit fine and don't rub.
1987cp, the wheels are just regular slotted units from a fifth ave cop car. He runs the small caps with the perimeter holes. Maybe I can find a pic of his car. Also, you can run small dodge caps from the late 60's on these wheels that don't have holes and look really sweet.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser
